it's amusing how vastly different the new year feels this time round
it doesn't sneak up on you and start crashing cymbals in your ear
chasing you back to the whole school-is-now-in-session routine

no more attempting to wake up at 6
no more singing the national anthem
no more... wait, oh what the hell, to continue
would be to sound jaded, nostalgic and terribly cliche
oh wait, this i must lament...

relish waking up at 8 or 9
or even 11- on those rare days you just don't feel like getting out of bed
but that's only if there's no driving lessons that begin at 8.15
or swimming classes that start at 9
or the inane need to go run at 7

driving is... proceeding to slowly for my liking
yes please insert multiple sighs here
my cornering is terribly suspect and inconsistent.
i'm still stuck at stage 1 after 8 lessons,
and there are 4 stages in total
thank God my parents have decided to sponsor...
this terribly expensive endeavour

being a swimming instructor is... a very new experience
totally in agreement with J about taking over a class
it's not very fun, stressful even
to be able to pull off what the previous instructor was doing
so the equilibrium of the kids aren't too disturbed
by the multiple change in coaches
now insert furious rubbing of temples in a futile bid
to remember what i'm supposed to do
and...
i'm supposed to handle crying 3 year olds?!
'God save the queen' begins blaring in the distance
on the flipside
starting a brand new class is... way cool
sure there's the overwhelming test of endurance
not to yank the kid in the water
or just your own hair out
cause the kids are so... precocious
but the new class is a pretty fun bunch
laughter's certainly not lacking in the class
imagines sitting at the bottom of the waterfall
where water has been swapped for relief
still i dread to think about the morning class
ah well, big kid now, suck it up and plunge right in

it's amusing, the puns that is
they're increasingly water-related
and there's absolutely no full stop in sight
chlorinated water has become
more than an acquaintance
more than a friend
it's now almost a constant companion
